Company Newsletters

Problem

The HandStory brand needed to be strengthened.

The e-Newsletters I wrote helped HandStory customers become advanced users of handheld devices, and provided unexpected insight into customer behavior.

Process

Wrote and posted the main article to the website. Created and posted all artwork. Sectioned the article to begin in the newsletter and continue onto the company Website.

Worked with the primary designer on template appearance. For the designer's table- and image-based template, created and placing headlines as .gif images, created all of the banner art for the cover of the newsletter. The same art was then transferred to the Website main page.

Wrote poll question and charted previous poll data. Provided programming staff with a poll script that they adapted.

Result

Strengthened the HandStory brand by providing articles designed to improve user skills, with announcements about Web site services and resources, and with links to affiliate sites with compatible content.

Polls taught us about our audience habits and preferences. For example, although we assumed our customers were using PDAs primarily to manage schedules and "clip" Web content, we discovered that the most popular PDA use was for reading eBooks from the eBook service that I created.
