Introduction

The newspaper articles collected here provide a sample of the writing of Phillip E. Honstein from when he served as reporter and associate editor for the Record-Journal Newspaper, a weekly community paper published in Ferndale, Washington. These articles, besides providing a glimpse into the life of a small community in northern Washington state in 1999, also demonstrate the ability of Phillip Honstein to write about a wide range of subjects.
